Who we are
Silver Plate Canada is operated from a working metals recycling facility at 2687 Slough St, Mississauga, Ontario. Testing and recovering metal is what we do all day. The mail-in service brings that same equipment to your kitchen table, and you can bring your silver to the door instead of posting it if you would rather.

What we buy
Silverplate is why we exist: EP, EPNS, hotel plate, the tea services, trays and flatware chests that many buyers refuse. We buy it by the pound at flat published prices, with holloware and knives priced separately because a knife is mostly steel. Sterling silver is paid at a published rate that follows the metal market. Gold jewellery is paid by the gram off the gold market, all in the same box. We also buy pewter, brass and bronze, and copper-nickel.

We tell you what NOT to send. Email photos to [email protected] before you ship and we answer honestly, even when the answer is keep it. We pay metal value only: if you think a piece is worth more than its metal, keep it or sell it elsewhere.
How selling by post works
1. Request your shipping label. Tell us your box sizes and we email you a discounted shipping label. Our commercial rate is well below counter prices and the label cost simply comes off your payment. Your own carrier works too: address the parcel to Silver Plate Canada, 2687 Slough St, Mississauga, ON L4T 1G2.
2. Pack your box and decide what stays home. Any sturdy box works. Wrap pieces so they do not shift, and do not polish anything: polishing strips silver and can reduce the value of pieces we would rather buy whole. When in doubt, leave it out, or email a photograph and ask first.
3. We open it on camera. Every parcel is opened on continuous video, from the sealed exterior with the waybill visible through to every piece sorted by material and weighed. Sterling and gold are tested with a professional XRF analyzer, which reads the metal without damaging anything.
4. You are paid at the published rates. By Interac e-Transfer, with an itemized receipt: every category, every weight, every rate, every dollar. There is no fee on settlements of $250 or more; under that a $25 processing fee applies, measured on the settlement before the fee.

Prices are subject to market changes. The prices posted on the day your parcel is processed are the prices you are paid. Solid silver is priced off the metal market and moves through the day, so that figure is confirmed to you in writing when your parcel is weighed.
Or bring it to the door
You do not have to mail anything. Silverplate, sterling, gold and whole estate boxes can be brought to our Mississauga location in person, and everything after that is identical to the mail-in service: the same published prices, the same on-camera processing, the same itemized receipt. Book a time and a team member will be waiting. Antique dealers, pawn shops, auctioneers and estate liquidators moving hundreds of pounds at a time can say so on the booking form, so we have help and a pallet jack ready.
How to read the marks
Silver plated pieces carry marks like EPNS (electroplated nickel silver), EP, EPC, A1, quadruple plate, silver soldered, or a plate maker's name such as Rogers, 1847 Rogers Bros, Community, Oneida or Tudor Plate. Solid silver says STERLING, 925 or .925, and older British, European and Canadian silver carries other solid marks: the walking lion, the crowned leopard's head, the seated Britannia, the crowned harp, or the numbers 800, 830 and 835. Three marks fool people because they carry the word sterling on a plated piece: sterling inlaid, sterling silver plate, and the word sterling stamped beside EP, EPNS or A1.
Is this one of those cash-for-gold scams?
Fair question. This industry earned its reputation: the postcard operators of the 2000s paid sellers a small fraction of melt value and were shut down or shamed out of business. Here is what we do differently. Our prices are published on this site as plain dollar figures. Every parcel is opened and documented on camera. Every payment comes with an itemized receipt you can check line by line. And if you email photos before you ship, we will tell you honestly what not to send.
What if my parcel gets lost in the mail?
Our discounted shipping labels are tracked door to door. If you ship with your own carrier, choose a tracked service (you can add declared-value coverage with them) and address the parcel to Silver Plate Canada, 2687 Slough St, Mississauga, ON L4T 1G2. From the moment a parcel reaches us it is on continuous video.
Can I get my items back after I ship them?
Yes. If you change your mind we return your items by tracked courier at your shipping cost, quoted to you in writing before anything ships back. Every purchase is held intact, not melted, for 30 clear days. Anything we quote to you in writing is not processed at all until you approve the quote.
